What to look for when choosing a toilet?

The toilet was invented ... 4,000 years ago in present-day Pakistan. True, this invention was later forgotten and revived only in 1775. Unfortunately, all those 4,000 years ago, the principle of the toilet has not changed - you open the valve, the water flows into the bowl with your body waste and drains deep into the ground or into the sewage system. True, one of the richest people in the world, Microsoft founder Bill Gates, has given huge sums of money to young inventors to fundamentally improve the toilet. The result is as follows:

This toilet does not require a water and sewage system. You just build it at home and clean the "decontaminated" waste once a week, and you pour water on the plants. But it will be enough about the future and these technologies. Let's return to Lithuania, where we have more than enough water for wastewater, and the network of wastewater treatment plants is not bad enough. Simple toilets with water are relevant to us.
How to choose the most suitable toilet? What to look for? Here are some specific tips.

To build or hang a toilet?

First of all, you should decide what type of toilet is needed - to be erected or hung. The built-in toilet has a stable base. It is enough to place it in the bathroom in a certain place (preferably as close as possible to the drain pipe), fasten it to the floor with screws or glue with silicone and that's it. A wall-hung toilet is a slightly more complex device because it requires a special construction on the wall on which it will be hung. When a person weighing another 100 kg sits on a ceramic toilet weighing 20-30 kilograms, the load-bearing structure must be installed very firmly - a few screws in the wall will definitely not be enough.

There is also another dilemma - the water tank. In wall-hung toilets, the water tank is mounted on the wall. Only the lower button itself is displayed on the wall surface. It is an aesthetic but quite complex solution.

Tank

There are many questions with the water tank. Where will it be: high on the ceiling or just on the toilet? Is the tank mounted or already poured together with the toilet? How is the water drained in the tank? Pulling the cord down, tilting the lever, or pressing a button?

The most popular way to drain in Lithuania is by pressing a button. Lever-operated tanks are still popular in other countries. Ropes are popular only in high-hanging tanks in so-called "squats", where natural things need to be done by squatting, not sitting (by the way, this method is recommended by doctors and scientists).

There are usually two buttons in the tank, although one is enough for simpler ones. Why? The reason is very simple - one button does not drain all the water in the tank. Typically, the buttons lower 2-3 or 5-6 liters of water. You can decide this depending on which "case", larger or smaller, needs to be lowered. This saves water in the tanks.

3 types of toilets

If the bath is large, it is possible to place 3 types of toilets next to each other:
1. Toilet built or hung. It is a classic toilet, the features of which we have reviewed.
2. Urinal. This is a wall-hung toilet only for men to do the "little" thing. We often find them in public toilets.
3. Bidet. It is a hanging or standing toilet, lower than the traditional one and is designed for ladies. The bidet has a special water tube that can be washed after the whole process.

The larger bathrooms hold all three toilets, so don’t be surprised.

Modern technologies make it easy to combine a bidet and a traditional toilet. Unfortunately, urinals for women, although they were invented, have not yet caught on ...

The toilet lid is very important

It is very important to choose a toilet with the appropriate lid. They are of two types - simple and slow descending, also called "soft close". If you have young children at home, a slow-descending lid is a must. The reasons are very simple: you will avoid injuries when the falling lid can injure the genitals, nor will you break the toilet.

The slow-closing lid is more expensive, but it does not hit the top of the toilet and does not fall off quickly, thus not endangering human safety.

Toilet color - white

Why are toilets mostly white? The answer is similar to that question about bedding in hotels ... White symbolizes cleanliness and confidence. After all, you would not want your toilet to be variegated like a soldier's uniform and not have to understand whether it is naturally of this color or well-drained and abandoned ... As a result, white is chosen. Although you have to accept black or beige toilets, reminiscent of a stone mass, not white enamel.

Sewage disposal - vertical or horizontal

A trifle, but sometimes it’s important. The drain pipe in the house can be led out of the wall or floor. As a result, the connection is different. If the drain pipe in the floor - choose a vertical connection. You can then drain the drain from the toilet with a flexible connection directly into the opening in the floor. If the drain is in the wall, you should choose a horizontal connection, because then the drain hose goes horizontally. Some toilets have both options. Just look at which wall in the stand is open.

High or low?

Doctors and scientists recommend low toilets. True, they are not comfortable for the elderly or people with disabilities. The low toilet is suitable for families with small children, because then it is more comfortable for them to sit. Before you buy a toilet, check its dimensions.

Toilet lighting, music, wind are additional accessories that are typical of our technical age. They are not much needed, but can be useful to someone.
