Oral hygiene is now easier to take care of than ever before. After all, technology that used to be only in dental offices can now be in each of our closets. What's next? Homemade tooth drill? ..? Let's put the laughter aside and today let's get acquainted with one of the most necessary oral hygiene devices - an intermittent irrigator.
The interlocking irrigator is a special device that pours a tiny stream of water at a fairly high speed. When a stream of water is poured between the teeth, all plaque and accumulated food debris is removed from the interdental spaces.
You have definitely seen this in the dentist's office. After using the intermittent irrigator, the dentist also inserts a pump that pumps out all the water. There is no such pump in the house, so you need to use it according to the instructions.
The interlocking irrigator can be stationary or wireless.
The interdental irrigator is used before brushing your teeth. Its purpose is to clean hard-to-reach places - interdental, massage the gums. As a result, it is usually possible to adjust the water flow to avoid unpleasant sensations.
You need to lean over the sink. Then run a stream of water and lead from one interlude to another. The pulsating stream of water displaces all the dirt, so the water does not need to be swallowed - it must flow out of the mouth into the sink. Water can be sprayed from the front and inside of the teeth. All you need to do is be careful not to splash the room or get your clothes wet.
A few minutes on the irrigator and your interludes clean. Dental floss is no longer needed, you can take a brush and brush your teeth with it.
Intermediate irrigators are different, so a few key points should be noted:
1. The size of the water tank. The larger the water capacity, the longer you can use the irrigator on one fill.
2. Wireless or wired. Some interlocking irrigators are wireless, while others have containers to which the cord is connected and plugged into an electrical outlet. They are not very convenient if you travel frequently, so consider wireless devices. True, the water capacity of wires is much higher.
3. Different water pressure modes. There are usually 2 or three water pressure modes - stronger and weaker. They are designed so that more sensitive gums do not hurt from excessive water flow.
4. Different nozzles. Most models have at least three different nozzles that spray water differently. The most popular are the classic nozzle for interdental braces, as well as the nozzle for implants (with a brush). Additionally, more nozzles are available, such as for tongue cleaning.
5. Water spray method. Water is sprayed in two ways - a strong stream and a stream with air. The latter is intended for gum massage.
6. Loading. Some devices charge faster, others slower. Some are built into a special charger, others just fit the magnetic charger to the housing. Some can also be charged with a USB cable, so a phone charger is also suitable for them.
7. Water resistance. Some models are water resistant, so they can also be used in the shower. Their housing is airtight and shower water cannot enter the tank.
Most interstitial irrigators work not only with water but also with mouthwash, which not only better cleans interstitials but also kills bacteria. Only rinse the device thoroughly under running water after use.
The interlocking irrigator costs several tens of euros - it is a rather complex device, made only from the highest quality materials. However, we do not usually put any devices in our mouths.
I have also seen models where the irrigator and electric toothbrush share the same charging platform, although these are completely different devices.
