How to choose an oven?

Healthy and delicious food in our homes is a necessity. The most important contributor to this is a quality oven that meets all your needs. How to choose it?

Oven technical parameters

Numerous articles have been written on how to choose an oven according to its technical parameters. We are not going to expand in this area as you hardly feel the difference between the 65 and 75 liter ovens. Literature matters when we can clearly see the oven sections. Samsung's newest ovens may have two doors instead of one, which means that the problem is not in liters, but in their efficient use. After all, two large pots with stew or casserole have much more food than a plate with ribs...
The technical parameters that really matter when choosing ovens are power and power consumption class. The more powerful the appliance is, the faster it heats up and we can cook the food faster for cooking. Energy efficiency is paramount. The level now reached is that the ovens are plugged into a simple electrical outlet - they do not need a three-phase electrical connection, like a hotplate.

Another important technical parameter is the number of cans and grates. Some ovens can easily be stacked with 4 tins, while others have a maximum of 2.

Simple, grill, convection or with microwave function?

When choosing an oven, it is important to know your cooking habits. Someone bakes cakes and turkeys, and someone needs only an apple pie or pork ribs in the oven. It depends on what kind of oven you need.

A simple oven just bakes. The modes are very similar: top, bottom, top + bottom, top with breeze and so on.

The convection oven has an additional fan, which ensures an even distribution of air throughout the tank. This feature is useful when baking something big. This evenly fries duck, turkey, chicken and other larger dishes.

The microwave oven is the ideal solution for the saver. There are usually two appliances in the kitchen - a microwave and an oven. With such a baking machine, there is no need for a built-in microwave oven. This saves you the expense of purchasing two household appliances. The food can be heated simply in the oven. And it's even healthier... But if you rarely use the microwave, it's hardly a very useful feature.

The grill is an extra heater that usually heats from above. It is intended for a crispy food crust. If you do not have a barbecue in the winter, you can do it in the oven. Tastes really good, looks similar too.

Cleaning the oven

The oven is cleaned depending on how often you cook. If you bake frequently, the means and cleaning system should be good enough. Standard ovens do not have any specific cleaning mechanism or function. They are provided with a well-cleaned coating that is important to dampen slightly and wipe with a damp cloth.
The catalytic coating in some ovens ensures that grease does not accumulate on the surface. Special couples just absorb them. But then the catalytic walls need to be replaced every few years.
Steam cleaning is an advanced manual cleaning option. The empty oven is exposed to vapor, which quickly soaks all the walls against dirt. Then all you have to do is wipe the dirt off with a cloth.

Pyrolysis is a very good, albeit energy-intensive, method of purification. All the dirt is burned when the oven is heated to 500 degrees. If there is a lot of dirt, you may also get smoke, so make sure the cooker hood is turned on.

The most effective way is steam cleaning. Simple and fast.

Additional oven functions

Sometimes the choice of oven is determined not by the traditional but by the unique features that are not found in every model.

DualCook function. The oven is divided into two parts, where you can prepare different dishes without the fear that the smells will mix. Both parts can be controlled separately, so the temperature and cooking time may vary. Some models also have double doors for convenient removal of one dish without touching another.

Telescopic rails.Removing hot food is a major stress that has repeatedly ended and catastrophic. Some models have special stainless steel telescopic rails on which the tin can be placed, so that you don't have to be scared and frustrated.

Steaming.It is a function of steam ovens that provides even higher quality and healthier cooking. After all, steamed food is considered extremely healthy and beneficial for the whole family.

Cooking thermometer. Usually this function is needed for larger meat dishes. A special thermometer is inserted into the meat and measures the temperature. When the meat is cooked, a signal is given that the temperature can be lowered and the dish taken out. 

Fast heating. This is a feature useful for those in a hurry. It immediately preheats the oven to the desired 200 or 250 degrees, and you can cook the dish almost immediately, without having to wait ten minutes until the oven is hot enough.

Cooling fan. It is a special fan that cools hot oven elements after cooking.
Remote control over Wi-Fi. Very urgent function for urgent people. You get ready meals in the morning and turn on your smartphone gadget at night. When you get home, you find the food ready.

There are more features, but keep in mind that each feature next to the standard costs extra, so you will have to pay more for ovens with more features.
